Relax, Bush will not be our president forever. It may take a few years for someone to clean up his mess, but it will be done and your retirement will be safe by the time you need it.

Just don't travel over seas and you won't feel the pain of the dollar. ;) If the FED continues to cut rates, which it sounds like they might after yesterday's events, then the dollar won't be going up anytime soon. Always fund your IRA or 401K especially, it's free money if your company is matching you dollar for dollar to a certain percentage. The Market always wins in the long run so keep funding those accounts.

Yes your right, send me all those worthless dollars asap. And from now on do all your buying in gold and silver. Now of course you won't do that anymore than anyone else, so they're really not as worthless as you say. Don't be a doom and gloomer, the dollar always comes back and it will again. Why do you think Abu Dabi just bought into Citi? It's because if we go down the whole world will follow and no one wants that. Money talks and the dollar is the toast master, so relax.

Ebb & flow. The dollar is weakening because lower interest rates (and fears over the mortgage lending crisis) are making fixed income securities in the US less attractive compared to elsewhere for foreign investors (and the gang busters Chinese & Indian markets are attracting a lot of capital as well). But the lower dollar makes US exports less expensive, and Imports into the US more expensive. US exporters should see increasing sales, while foreign companies will either see margins declines on US sales, or have to raise prices making them less attractive compared to US products. US corporate profits should rise over time attracting foreign investment and increasing demand for the dollar... Ebb & flow... and the global economic heartbeat goes on.

unless you intend to live abroad why will your $ be worthless? in the meantime invest in foreigh stock funds, and big cap that have foreign earnings. Anyway FX tend to come and goe, we are just paying for the excess of our budget deficit and trading inbalance, once this is back in order (and it could be sometime before it happens) the $ will swing back. Can't finance and war and cut axes in the same time, gotta pay the price at some point. Weare due for some good financial discipline.
