Pier 1 sells tempered safety glass with 1/2 inch beveled ends in several different sizes, but I've really only seen rounds there. They are much cheaper than having a glass company make or cut you one.

Forget about the local glazier who puts in glass when your child puts a ball through the window.
Consider it as a piece of furniture, and shop accordingly.
It's illegal to install ordinary glass, it must meet stringent safety requirements.

if its a specific size ..then you will be unable to but it over the counter ...not anywhere in the world ..you give the glass company the sizes ,,.and either they cut it and send it away ..or they phone the sizes to the other plant and then they cut it and toughen it ..laminate glass will not do ..normally takes two or three days

Some local glaziers have this in stock, they also have the cutting tools, more importantly, they have the water cooled grinders and polishers to take the corners off and polish them.

local glass mechants / glaziers. Get toughened glass with ground edges.
a typical coffe table top of 10mm thick toughened with ground edges and 1metre by 600mm will be £100 ish.

Go to a local glass company have have them cut and finish it for you. This is one of their many services.
