Colorado, hands down.
Montana and eastern California (along the Nevada border) has beautiful mountains too.

here's another vote for new york states Adirondacks!!! especially the High Peaks near lake placid----not as big as out west but more beautiful, the white mountains of new hampshire are reaaly nice too especially around the presidential range....
