Instead we give each other a letter or card and inside it says "if I had all the money in the world I'd give you .........(blank) for Christmas this year" Last year I said I'd give her a romantic balloon ride over the city. Any ideas for this year?? something romantic ....not neccessarily materialistic...

Forget this route! Christmas is all about giving! It is the season of giving! So, stop all this pretending not to want anything and just give her a gift. If you really know her, you'd know what to get. If not, find out what she needs or want (use parents, sibilings, friends and others). Just start slow and small or you'd train her to expect bigger and better gifts. You create the romantic atmosphere and enjoy a great time with her. After all, you are doing the chasing, aren't you? Enjoy the relationship and Merry Christmas!

I 'd fly you to Paris for an all day shopping spree, and you can buy whatever your hearts desire no matter the expense because you're worth every penny! put a picture of the Eiffel Tower on the card or a cute French storefront or cafe!

The point of your tradition is to say something from your heart, if WE tell you what to say....it won't be from the heart, and obviously not genuine at all!! If you're not going to spend money...at least spend <

I'd have to agree with "Sahara".

It sounds romantic and is not really materialistic.
