i don't know if that is possible. the bush administration has completely pulled shame and non- victory from the jaws of victory. its like asking in 1972, what is your definition of victory in Nam.

The liberals didn't start it and have generally been opposed to it so it is not necessarily the liberals who must define victory in Iraq. We keep hearing mission accomplished etc but we are still there. I wonder if the cons even know how victory is defined for Iraq. I have yet to hear any definition of victory from either faction. I hear how well we are doing and that this or that or the other thing is working or violence is down etc. ad nauseum but we are still there. Please help us understand what the definition of victory in Iraq truly is. I will support it if I know but no one has defined it for us.

Well, bascially, the duty of the US military is more or less complete.

"Victory" now, is having Iraq form a stable, functioning government with internal security. This requires regional to world input and help as well as the willingness of the Iraqis to forge their own destiny..

There will be little evidence of a normally-defined "victory" stemming from the ill-advised Invasion/Occupation. The outcome is not ours to control.

Victory in Iraq is up to the Iraqi people, at this point. I suppose victory is when our troops are no longer needed to maintain law and order.

through certainty it is Bush's conflict, its his accountability to define what victory potential to the familiar public. individually, i think of Bush will declare victory (for himself) if he makes it out of workplace and there are nonetheless US squaddies deployed in Iraq. Then his handlers/supporters can lay lots of the blame on the subsequent President.

Saddam Hussein made to answer for his crimes.....check!

Neutralize any possible threat to the U.S. from Iraq.....check!

Mission Accomplished......check!

Victory......check!

Our soldiers should have been on their way home in 2003!

Here's the thing though. They were never meant to come home. Iraq was always meant to be a military instillation in the Middle East since Saudi Arabia made us close the one there!
