...and refused to trade with us any more?
What would be do for gas, clothes, cars, food, durable goods & exports we have become so acustomed to & take so much for granted?

Wiz...from what I understand, your Q was: what would happen to us...not what would happen to them, correct?
It would probably be a good thing for us because we would learn to be a self-sufficient & self-reliant nation once more. Manufacturing & employment would florish and we wouldn't have to rely so much on others. Oh, we would have to learn to do without exotic imports & such, but that would be a small price to pay for what we could theoretically gain.

It should be the US that is throwing up some roadblocks to countries like China that continue to abuse our system. Blocking ships from docking at the last minute should cause the US to punish China. Our politicians need to stand up to the Chinese and take away their most favored nation status. How long can they be permitted to send in contaminated goods and insult our navy?? I think the US should make China pay for the cost of all those naval families that went to Hong Kong to visit their loved ones. That was a setup and permitting the Chinese to abuse us like that is wrong.

They would quickly go broke.

We would have a period of adjustment, but then we would start producing all the items here in the US, at a higher cost than we got them before.

The countries who refused to trade with us, would see thier economies crash,

Thier governments fall,

And be begging the US to trade again,

In short order.

They won't--it is their best interest to trade with us--we buy more than we sell abroad. Secondly--if all ganged up on us--a good portion of the world would starve--third--a good portion of the world would shut down--due to a lack of spare parts--and fourth--the entire world would be in economic chaos--the Dow and all the foriegn exchanges--stocks would all drop like lead ballons. I guess they could do so--but it would be like amuputating your leg to take care of an ingrown toenail.

they would go bankrupt.

our economy is still the world's largest.

if china did even 10% less business with us, they would be plunged into a depression the likes of which the world has never seen.
