Have you considered a person here from seniors to be the recipient? Please do as we have many friends in need this season.
Please don't forget the rejects and outlaws of this world. Sometimes the most rejected are the sweetest and most deserving of all.

This is the 30th year we have adopted a family for Christmas..This year there is a mom, 4 &5 year old girls, 1 year old boy and a newborn due @ any time..I always ask for young kids as I am a sucker for Santa..this year everyone has a New jacket, 2 outfits, undies, socks and 5 toys each..I am given a Christmas wish list to choose from so at least have something to go by and the kids get some of their Santa requests..I never meet the family so hope the groceries, gift cards and toys help to give them a good Christmas..I gives me warm fuzzies..

Every year the fire department in our town put up a huge Christmas tree with names of needy children in our own area that have been submitted by the teachers of the community. We usually choose three to give gifts to every year.

I also but something little for a couple of people in the nursing home, where my mom is, that have no family.

With all our surgeries this year and my husband out of work, we are pretty tight. But we will help at least one child. I would like to help an adult on Seniors or Outlaws, but I need to see how much money I have left.

It's times like this that we wish we could do something to help someone in need. We live on a very tight budget but we do try to do at least 1 Christmas box and take it to the charity shops in town that send them to needy children overseas. There are still famillies here in the UK that lost everything in the Summer floods and are still trying to get their lives back on track. There are 1 or 2 household items that we are going to donate to the Flood Fund, we don't use them enough to warrant keeping them and there are famillies that could make use of them far more than we are doing.
I was homeless for nearly 2 years so I know only too well how awful it was not to have a secure roof over my head - anything we can do to help someone count us in although we do not have much in the way of spare money we'll work out a way to contribute.

I'll get a couple names again from the angel tree at the nursing home I visit and buy them gifts. Some of the people there have no family. My family are far apart so we decided not to mail gifts, etc. this year, things have been kind of tough for most of us. There are so many I wish I could help, I plan to do what I can.

SC, if I ever won the lottery I would give most of what I received to all of you here. I have no other family to speak of with which to share and that is what it is all about, sharing. At this time in my life I am lucky if at the end of the month I have enough for food. But when I get a little ahead I always try to think of what I would do, if I were totally destitute and who I could help to get out of that situation. Great question and appeal. Wish I could do more too. Have a great day!

One bleak year....I was literally counting pennies and am not good when it comes to calculating taxes. I mean I had my girls and absolutly not 1 name brand item
or any extras and I was caught short at the register trying to decide what necessity we could get by without. Someone came up and paid my bill in secret. I am waiting to do that for someone. I know there are plenty here on fixed incomes who could use the help and I will be ready.

I have donated to Toys for Tots, older ages and babies and also to the Shop With A Cop program here. I would love to help out here if there is a need and I know there is. We all can use help at one time or another so when I have alittle extra it is fun to share, just as people have been kind to share with me. GW had mentioned it before. How would you do that so as not to hurt someones feelings and get it to them?

Yes absolutely! I will have some money to donate in mid December to the outlaws and rejects, and I have some sterling silver jewelry I designed for the auction too

I won a tune-up in the United Way campaign at work (and I never win anything!). I don't need a tune-up, but I have a friend who is a disabled single mother. She has MS and her husband was killed in a car accident. I took it to the mechanic and got it transferred to her name anonymously. I am not some hero, by the way, I have a company car to drive.
