Are they embarrassed, and just keep a low profile. Why don't they go public and condemn the actions of these dark age people. or are they scared.

Of course they are scared, wouldn't you be if your daughter or wife was murdered for family honour!!!!!! and whip innocent foreign women in public. They are centuries behind.
They should stand up and decry these crazy people,if they wish to integrate into civilised western society.

True, extremism is never the answer, but I do detect a note of arrogance in the notion that " .......if they wish to integrate into civilised western society" as a writer on here wrote.

Though I support the decrying of violence and abhor extremism in any form, I do believe in that statement lies part of the answer to the violence - the seeming superiority we display over their way of life. I don't know that the middle easterns have requested to live the 'western' way of life and I see no reason to propagate that. I digress though...

I think that for the majority of the non violent/moderate muslims, their lives are precious and they'd rather not rock the boat, so they keep quiet. I am not a muslim and so can't claim to fully understand their thinking here and though not very admirable, when one has family and friends to think about and is faced with unreasonable people with the potential to harm loved ones, then that may look to be the better option. My 2 cents.....

It is one of two things, either they are scared or they are in agreement with the things going on. They are no longer in countries where they will be persecuted for standing up and speaking out against the violent faction of Islam. I am starting to believe that most of them are in agreement with the things that are happening. After all, they don't seem to have a problem banding together and protesting against the governments of the country who is trying to offer them a better life, when they feel their religious rights have been violated. Not long ago I read an article. In this article, Muslims from free countries were polled about sharia law. The overwhelming majority of them would like to see sharia law instituted in the country they are presently living in. The country they are living in is democratic! Here is a link to an article which talks about something similar. This is not the article I read, but similar. I highly advise you all to take a look.

In my honest opinion, there are no modest Muslims. Wake up people!

I think they are scared. So everyone just lumps them together with the radical muslims and who can blame them? I am a Christian and grew up a Baptist but I do not agree with those fire and brimstone Baptists that do crazy things. If the Muslim people don't want the world to think they are all lunatics, then they should band together and let the world know what's what.

Are there any moderate moslems? Last I heard, 90 percent of all Moslems believe that terrorism is right, if the victims are Jews. Maybe it is a case of 90 percent of Moslems making the other 10 percent look bad.

You have to differentiate between the two groups in North America and Europe. Those in North America are in societies where they can be (and are in many cases) totally assimilated into those societies. Muslims in Europe are considered to be "children of the colonies". Descended from people who lived in nations that were once colonies of those European powers. Look at Great Britain and France where Muslims are marginalized, both in housing and other aspects of daily life. It explains the riots in France and disturbances in other parts of Europe as well.

Good question. If they were to find their voices, I know that I would certainly pay attention. I hope that their silence does not mean that they secretly agree . . .
