I went for an evening meal at the local pub with my partner and daughter. My child and I decided to have a pudding so ordered them. My partner then informed me he was going home, as we would take ages eating the desserts.(so he left us in the pub) I find his behaviour rude and anti sociable but he doesn’t see any wrong in leaving as he wasn’t having a pudding and would be bored waiting.
How would you feel if your partner did this to you or am I over reacting? I haven’t kicked up a fuss about him leaving but it is playing on my mind.

Kieran B * That's how I view it also.
My partner is 33 and this is one of many things he has done that has made me think how rude can another person be. I believe it was a family meal when he first suggested leaving I even said lets have a chat about anything so you are not bored.

The pub is in walking distance of our home, thanks everyone for your input to my question. I believe most of you have said exactly how I have viewed the situation.

I think that's extremely rude - just because he doesn't want to eat he makes you feel guilty for choosing to!
What is wrong with waiting and chatting while you eat? A meal is meant to be a social event not just a time to eat.

I would consider that as a family meal, you arrive and dine together only make sense to leave together as well. He has not patience in waiting a few more minutes for you and your daughter to enjoy dessert before taking off? Very inconsiderate.
Did you and your partner take separate cars? If not did he walk home or left you and your child stranded?

You are not overreacting. He's an @sshole. What was he thinking. Next time you begin to have sex you need to get up, dress, go in and watch TV or something. Use the same excuse with him when he asks. If this sort of behavior happens often I'd look elsewhere for companionship. Games, all they do is hurt people.

That is soooo weird. I would be like "Are you f*ing kidding me?". Honestly I would dump him, I mean you have a daughter, this guy sounds like such an idiot, is he really 'daddy material'. And at the very least you have to sit down with him, and let him know that behavior is NOT acceptable.
I've dated some clueless guys, none as bad as that, but honestly it's been my experience with those types that you constantly have to be bitchy, fighting, and willing to lay down the law, otherwise the guy does whatever he wants and walks all over you. And you seem like a very nice woman, so do you really wanna spend your entire relationship like that?!

I would feel hurt by his inconsiderate behavior, especially on behalf of my daughter. His role as the man is to lead by example and provide for all of your welfare. He appears to see his objective when going out with his " family " as purely to get something to eat and not quality time or bonding with his community. I would allow his behavior to marinate a little and see what comes of his conscious. We all have shortcomings, so let the punishment fit the crime.

I dont feel that you're over reacting. Nor do I feel that you have a satisfying relationship.
In my opinion, a relationship is enjoying being together.
His harsh words indicate that NOT to be the case.
