I think Raines, Gossage and Blyleven.

With the writers doing the deciding, throw out who ought to go in or who is most likely to go in and even who shouldn't. It all depends on the following, which I have discovered after years of research:

1.) Bathing suit competition -- in which case Tommy John will go in.

2.) Evening gown competition -- in which case Bert Blyleven MIGHT pull of a surprise and pass Don Mattingly

3.) 'Dat Ol' Man River' singing competition -- This has cost Rice votes in the past. This year's clear leader: Goose Gossage

4.) Best kisser -- Dante Bichette a shoe in.

finally, 5.) 'How Writers Are the Best Group in the World' speech competition: rumor has it that Tony Fernandez will NOT win this year because Jack Morris is preparing his speech with Ann Rice -- no relation to Jim.

Jim Rice and Goose Gossage should be in already i hope that the week clas this year will help them. Rice Dominated in the late 70's and early 80's and Gossage was the first real dominate relief pitcher

The HOF first timers this year is a thin list with Raines and Justice the only two of the bunch that I think may get in. The sad thing is that there are better, more deserving ones on the "hold-over" list.

Tommy John
Bert Blyleven
Don Mattingly

just to name a few.

I don't see Raines as an HOFr. I do agree that Rice is LONG overdue (Of course, he is most often compared to Andre Dawson). I don't agree with Blyleven. Gossage is a strong possibility. McGwire will not get in. If he does, that speaks terrible about the writers.

Mattingly is not a hall of famer. He just wasn't great long enough sorry, if he played for anyone but the Yankees he would be a complete non-factor.

I think Raines gets in this year along with at least one of the hold overs, probably Gossage and perhaps Bylvelen.

On the writers ballot, I think only Gossage gets the nod this year. Maaaaaybe Rice, who only has two ballots left.

Among the ballot rookies, I expect only Raines survives relegation, but he won't get elected just yet. It really is a thin, thin crop this time.

Support Bert!

Goose Gossage almost made it last year - I think this is his year. Anyone else is a bit of a long shot.

I think the goose will finally get in. I also think McGuire will get in a few years from now but not until All this steroid stuff dies down.
