I just bought a new car and there was a scratch on the bumper. i dropped it off this morning at 730 to have the bumper repainted. the dealership said it would be ready to pick up at 4:30. does that seem right? for some reason i thought paint had to dry longer before you drove it

If they have a paint booth, they can dry the paint with heat. Don't WAX your car for about 9 months. It takes that long for new paint to fully cure. Paint cures as the solvents in it evaporates. If you put wax on it before it's cured, it will seal in the solvents and your paint will be soft and never cure. It's OK to wash though.

nope it should be fine.

paint curing time varies by type. also alot of shops will use heat to speed up the curing process. I wouldn't recommend going thru a care wash for at least a week. but the repair shop should answer any Questions you might have as to how long to wait before washing or waxing or anything like that.

With todays quick drying paint and the use of paint ovens ...it takes the dealership longer to sand, mask and then clean the car after then it does to do the painting & drying.

You can drive the car, but don't wash, wax, or buff it for a couple of days. Better yet, wait a week or more with the weather getting colder it will take longer.
