The BC works right away and you can relax.
The low dose is different from the regular pill, there's no "lag" from when you start until it's effective. It works right away.
Breastfeeding itself is a pretty effective birth control method as long as you are following the rules!
1. Baby nurses exclusively--NO bottles or formula
2. Baby nurses around the clock still (no stretches longer than 6 hours)
3. Baby is less than 6 months old
Every woman's body is different. However, my period didn't return until my first was 16 months old and we dropped to 2-3 nursings a day. Even though we were trying, I couldn't get pregnant until after I weaned him at 30 months. So, although it takes me weaning to get pregnant, your body might not be the same.
The low dose pill you are taking is effective, don't worry.

If a woman is exclusively breastfeeding, she typically won't ovulate for several months after baby is born. However, since ovulation occurs before a period there is no way to know exactly when fertility returns for each individual. A woman certainly isn't MORE fertile (I'm not even sure what that is supposed to mean) but her fertility will return. Its just a guessing game as to when. There is a method called LAM that can be used as bc, but it requires the mother to follow very specific and strict rules and is only effective for the 1st 6 months after the birth.

You can be fertile whether breastfeeding or not. Just ask all those siblings who are 11 months apart. I wouldn't take birth control while nursing, no matter what anyone says. How can that be good for baby?
You should be concerned and careful. Congrats on new baby.

Birth control works you can relax. If you weren't taking birth control you would need to be careful with condoms. It could be different for every woman. I think I'm very fertile just in general because I get my period back very quickly after my babies are born. Other women it can take months for them to get pregnant. It's all just perosnal.
If you're on birth control then go have fun as long as you're getting rest too. You don't need to worry about getting pregnant.

It is my understanding that the risk of pregnancy while breastfeeding is very low. However, you will want to use some other form of birth control, such as BC pill that you are taking.

Supposedly, not fertile ... BUT women who are breastfeeding become pregnant everyday! Do NOT use that as a form of birth control!
I have heard of breastfeeding mother's who were pregnant again by their 6 week post partum check-up!
good luck! God bless!

I don't know about the birth control, but breastfeeding exclusively (no bottles, pacifiers, etc.), at night as well as during the day, is about 98% effective as birth control in the first 6 months.

I would say, since you are on the pill, you should be able to relax. It is those who think that breastfeeding alone will be a good birthcontrol that end of with 2 very close in age siblings!!
Enjoy your baby, enjoy your husband! :)
If you have any questions though, about your birthcontrol you need to call you OB.... :)

NO, you are NOT 'very fertile'. No studies prove that you are more fertile after giving birth. It IS possible to get pregnant soon after you give birth, and even while breastfeeding. As it is uncommon to get pregnant while breastfeeding, it still happens. So with the BC and nursing, it's unlikely you'll fall pregnant. No worries, you'll be fine!
