Hey, I'm in VA, too! (oh....guess that's obvious) So, yes...soda it IS! Actually, I lived in Luray for 11 yrs (Luray Caverns, Shenandoah Valley) and they called it "sody pop."

Where I live it's called soda, but it's still common in a lot of places to call it pop or soda pop.

Pop up north and soda down here in the south. When I first moved down south, everyone kept making fun of me for saying pop.

The north seems to call it soda, the south pop. Use to be everything was coke.

its both, some just call soda POP but havent heard that term in a long time, im from the south (atlanta) they call soda cold drinks.
but soda gives you a pop of energy
