You got it wrong. They're conservative because they're paranoid.
They feel "persecuted" whenever anyone has the temerity to have a different viewpoint.

What in the world does persecution have to do with conservatism? Does the questioner know the meaning of " persecuted "? A Conservative is one who believes in not wasting, getting the most from effort applied, advancing on his/her own capabilities, living within their financial means without excess government interference. Most of us do not believe in "security from the cradle to the grave "as do most Liberals. We must earn our way and contribute to society, not be a drain on it.

Annoyed by gnats is more of the reality.
Besides I thought it was the liberal schtick that we are the ones that go about the world persecuting people. You should check out your gnat buzz with your party before you post it...it needs to make some sense to really have that in our ear effect.

People that are conservative (in the modern sense of the word) have usually been manipulated by the conservative and self seeking media. They have been using fear to control the masses. This is an old fascist trick. Control the press and you control the people. There are very few really honest media outlets in the USA. You must either watch foreign news or possibly Keith Olberman on MSNBC to get to the truth.

I'm conservative.. and I'm persecuted because I am a Jew, but thats it. If Christians would just stop trying to sell me jesus, I would be fine.
