well, you need to explain what the reason is you are doing it for, tell your story, and dont give up hope. my brother gets donations for breast cancer awareness by going into establishments and explains our sisters story. some give, some dont, but keep trying. do you do any of the walks? they have websites too that you get on and people can sponsor you. also you can buy the wristlets, or tshirts made and sell them that way. good luck, and God bless.

You could tell them all the good reason's for doing so, and that they will feel a tad bit better about themselves for donating to such a good cause. If they don't want to though, don't push the subject too much.. that will just aggravate them. Some people just aren't the type to donate. You have to respect their decision to be that way, even if you disagree with it.

You could ask them to imagine how it must feel to have cancer and how desperately people with cancer need money to pay for their treatments, you can also tell them that they'll feel good about it and they are doing the right thing by helping those poor people out.

I hope that helped a bit.

Go easy on the guilt, just put your case before them but remember it's there hard earned money. People will turn away if they feel they are being pressured to donate

people are cheap it's hard to pry their money from them. Ask in person and emails at least 3x. Let them know how their money will be used (as much as you know) provide pics if you could of sad cute children.
And just keep asking, go to local buisnesses, if you work ask your boss to match some donations.
Good Luck!

Try not to say anything to make anyone feel too bad...a lot of us (like me) would love to donate to many causes, but can barely afford ourselves.

if you are really involved with a noble cause from your heart then your words will be enough to open the purses of millioners, just be sincere you will find the flow of money

you can't really motivate someone to do that. either they want to donate or they don't, some people care more than others.

why do you need to do it? there are so many items for sell that when you buy them donate money to that organization, I would be leery of you if you came to me and asked for money
