I have a test monday and Im having a lot of trouble....can you tell me whatever you can about the similarity of reactivity between alkenes and alkynes

Why would I waste my time Waiting for an answer (that probably wont make sense anyway), if I didn't already look in my textbook?! Dumba$$

It would help if you had a more specific question, but alkenes and alkynes are similar. They can both reaction as nucleophiles with electrophiles like HX, BH3, Hg(OAc)2, X2, etc. Acetylenes are more reactive in many reactions allowing one to selectively isolate an alkene intermediate from the alkyne.

You might consider the book "The Language of Organic Chemistry; A Guide to Organic Chemistry Mechanisms" at http://www.curvedarrowpress.com. Reaction mechanisms are organized by mechanism and you would find many of the electrophilic additions to alkenes and alkynes in the same chapter.
