That's my question. Please describe what's different about your second than your first. I had that incredible burning and tearing with my first. No meds. SHe also came super quick with the first one....

Getting nervous. I'm 6 mos now.

Well, right now I have PLacenta Previa so I may have to have a c-section but I am still trying to exercise the power of positive thinking on the vaginal birth idea... LOL just not prepared for a faster birth than my first!

for me it was easier, because with my 1st i was induced and that was rough 17 hours, although the birth wasnt that bad(i had an epidural)
my water broke with #2 and labor progressed nicely. i had him in 7 hours. and the recovery was WAY faster for me on this one too. i was feeling almost back to normal the next day.

Well the more babies you have the shorter your labors can be (except for me...my first 2 were 7 hours...my 3rd was 23 hours) If you went super fast the first time...make sure you tell your Dr or midwife. They will want to make sure that you head to the hospital (birth center whatever) when contractions start and not necessarily when they would tell another woman to go.

I only every pushed like 2 times with any of my kids....but the pain etc was the same every time. As for the tearing....you can opt for an episiotomy in order to prevent that (BUT a lot of evidence has shown that there were higer risks of more severe tearing with being cut...because then you tear AFTER the cut...ewww)

You could also look into perineal massage (yep that's what I mean- rub it with oil) there are a few labor books etc that describe how it's done properly. If you start doing it now...the perineal area will be more than primed to stretch without tearing....in fact most Dr's and midwives will actually do this during labor itself to help it along. Sounds yucky....but considering the alternative (stiches) well I would be willing to do anything to avoid that.

Good luck.

My second was a lot faster than the first. The first was induced, but no meds. And I did have an episiotomy. With the second labor was not induced and was much faster, no time for meds or episiotomy and I did tear with him. We didn't even have time for the doctor, he was delivered by the labor nurse. It did hurt some, but it was so fast, and the recovery was a lot easier than the first time. You don't have to tear, but I don't really think that you can have a baby without the burning. The first time, I was in labor about 8 hours and I was a lot more tired. The second time my water broke and an hour and half later, it was all over. Try not to be too nervous. Most of the time the second delivery is easier than the first.

Every delivery is unique, but usually the second one is easier because your body is more prepared for it after the first. My son, the first, was a 9 hour labor and half hour delivery. My daughter was a 2 hour labor and about 10 minute delivery. (The emergency room doctor didn't make it up to catch her and she was born in the labor room.) I tore with her too, but fortunately I'd had an epesiotomy with my first, so I just tore along the scar line and didn't have a nasty rip. Chances are your second will also be super quick, barring complications, and you should go to the hospital at the first sign of labor since you're known for fast deliveries.

Seconds almost ALWAYS come faster than the first. Hope you have talked to your doctor about your plans as a patient like you usually doesn't wait to go to the hospital.

My second came much faster, but that is because the first was turned wrong. First labor 16 hours, second one about four, although I felt "funny" for five or six hours before I was sure I was in labor.

My second child certainly had an easier labor/delivery than my first. He was out in four pushes! He was actually an "easier" baby than my first too.
