On Christmas Eve we usually have a big dinner with about 15-20 people.. we are Italian so we do 2 big trays of Lasangne, salads and lots of appetizers because Football is on.. so we have finger foods all throughout the day.
On Christmas Day, we do an intimate immediate family dinner with a Prime Rib roast. Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

I usually make finger foods with a side cracker and cheese tray. Then I put out tons of chocolate, nuts and candies. If were all going to enjoy a big meal Christmas day I keep it very light Christmas Eve. Everyone just pics at everything.

Wow, Carmen C -- I want to go to YOUR house for Christmas Eve dinner! :D I fly out to visit my parents for the holidays so the best gift is not having to do the cooking myself. Woo!! We'll usually go over to a family friend's home for dinner on the Eve because my family hosts the dinner on Christmas -- the food tends to be similar on both nights. My family is from Hawaii, so while somewhat non-traditional, it feels like Christmas to me. There's usually ham or smoked turkey -- that's fairly tradtional -- but then the pendulum swings to things like sushi, sashimi, poke (like a Hawaiian ceviche), crab wontons, different Asian noodle salads, steamed potstickers, char-siu pork, and then everyone ends up making a dessert so there's always multiple options there.

It has always been a tradition in my family (they are italian) that we have fish. Even now that i am married and have my own family i still do the same, i was going to try to do something different this year but i've changed my mind. It just wouldnt be the same without it. This year we are having prawn cocktail, prawns in garlic butter, salmon, and depending what i can find in the shops some shellfish.

We traditionally (not sure how it got started) eat something we call "taco tartletts" on Christmas Eve. They are a ground beef meat concoction formed in a cupcake pan, then filled with cheese and olives. Very good, and very quick, and very warming on a cold evening with the family.

We always have a buffet style meal for tea. Its a family tradition now - all the traditional buffet food - sausages on sticks, sausage rolls, pickled onions, cheese and biscuits, bits of salad, cold chicken drumsticks, ham, pork pie etc etc etc.
ALWAYS enjoy it - and its great if you've got lots coming cos they just eat the bits they like and leave the rest for eveyone else. Plus there's always left overs for supper for the next couple of days - no more cooking!!!!
