Get your terminology right first.
There are talent agencies and casting directors and then there are casting websites where you can get work.
If you want good jobs, you need two things. Experience and an agent. The jobs you see posted on a website are what's left over once the producers and directors have submitted their breakdowns of the roles they need to talent agencies. For real important roles, they almost never go to casting websites, unless they are looking for something that is really difficult to cast.
Now back to you. If you are not getting any response, it could be what you suspect; that the casting website isn't any good or not legit. It could be their fault.
It could also be your fault that you are not getting a response. Did you ever think about that? Are you trained? What do you have on your résumé? Where did you go to school? What do you have on your reel? What do your headshots look like? How did you fill out your profile on the casting website? Did you utilize all the tools they gave you to be successful?
If something isn't working for you, you need to be able to analyze the situation and fix it as quickly as possible.
I would love to put a whole list of links to pages on my website that might help you to think this through, but putting that many links on one answer would certainly be a bit exaggerated.
What I can tell you though is to start here: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/nycastings.html
Have a look at the teen acting link on the menu as well.
Good luck in your search!
Tony
p.s. Go to school and really learn how to act and once you find a good school, stay there and keep on training. You'll be glad you did. Then, learn the business and see how things magically start to happen.

That website is not any sort of agency, either in the casting or management variety. It is a database listing auditions.
Real agencies never charges for their services, they take a percantage of your earning when you book a job. They get paid when you get paid, that's it.
I'm sorry, I really don't have any suggestions for you since I don't know the UK equivalent of Backstage or the Ross Reports. Try UK yahoo answers.
A couple generic things to try:
Check out www.equity.org.uk. - there's a career advice section under "The Industry"
Go to your bookstore to looks for industry how-to books that are geared toward UK actors
I will say though, whenever anyone is asking about where they can find auditions (on a professional level), it usually means they're not ready to begin going to them. (Hence, the no answers you've been getting when submitting on your site). Get some training first and your teachers should be able to tell you about some local, amateur opportunities. As you gain expereince and learn more about the biz, you'll know what your next steps should be and how to begin looking for representation.
Good luck!

are you in america? if so go to the casting society of america's website and look up the casting directors in your area. it will usually say what casting company they work for. and yes, if they are registered with csa then they are legitimate and wont charge you any money. mind you they arent talent agencies, they usually just cast extras but some times they do need actual talent. im not sure what to do for the uk but im sure that they have some sort of affiliation for legitimate agencies

You are never going to get any jobs off a web site. You need to get experience and training before you can get a job.

The words 'good' and 'free', almost never go together. They're all in it for the money.
