What is everyone's take on hiring a cleaning service if both people in the house work full time jobs. How much should you pay? how often should they come? Why do men feel like they are doing thier wife a favor by letting them get one when we get them so they can do the share of his work he doesn't do?

If you can afford it, go for it. Most services are pretty standard (about $50 a week, depending upon what you want done).

I won't even touch the aspect of why men feel they're doing women a favor! Just be thankful that if HE doesn't want to do the work, and YOU don't want to do it all by yourself, that he's willing to "allow" this variable!

If this is an expense you can afford and your both working full-time then I say go for it. I think twice a week would be fine as long as you guys clean up after meals and that general vacuuming and dusting and maybe doing some laundry 2-3 times per week expect to pay between 30-50 dollars per visit usually based on how much there is to do. Get quotes all over and get references don't just look in the paper don't want to come home to an empty house it does happen. I think though if you have no kids and all you guys should be able to clean it yourself. Tell your hubby if he helps out that the money you'd spend on a maid could buy him a new toy if this does not motivate him you you are married to a moron.

I think it is a great idea if there is enough money to pay them. The service I use charges $25/hour and it takes them 3 hours to clean a 2400 sq. ft. townhome. They come every 2 weeks. Weekly is too much but a cleaning is definitely needed after 2 weeks. As for your views of men and women, sounds like you have some issues with men as a whole.

When I was working, I used a cleaning service. For the most part, they did a good job. They were not perfect. I paid $52 per cleaning session. They cleaned every other week.

If you can afford it, do it.
