They were extremely inconsistent. Generally, Mom was more strict because she was a Sunday school teacher. Daddy was only strict when he was in a mood, or about doing chores. He would indulge us, then punish us, and we didn't know until much later that he was seriously paranoid and bipolar, and had been most of his life. Why Mom married him is one of life's major mysteries.

They're both dead now, so I expect I never will know. All I know is when I called Daddy to tell him that Mom had died, he had already been in a state mental hospital for some 20 to 25 years. All he said was, "Well, I never loved your mother anyway."

Mine were strict. My mom is still alive but at my age - she's not the boss of me anymore:0
At times I remember feeling like I hated my strict parents, but now I am glad for it- they taught me well. Manners, respect, a good work ethic.
I wouldn't trade strict for no rules. I try to be middle of the road with my daughter, fairly easygoing but she knows when I say no- it means no. And when I assign her chores she knows she better get on them right away.

My mother was a *****... but not really strict. She would slap me and my sisters across the face if we even looked at her in a way she didn't deem appropriate. She basically treated us like crap, but for some reason, she didn't keep us from doing MOST of what we wanted. My dad, on the other hand, was far too laid back and doped up to really care about what was going on.

When I was younger. Then I just got to a point where I was like, "Umm... I do what I want." They're no longer strict, but they are extremely protective and love me very much.

My mom wasnt that strict, but if I did something wrong she sure would let me know. If I was late coming home she would get in the car drive to where I was, yell at me and tell me to get the eff home and then leave. Pretty embarressing

Very strict. It was an abusive (in every way imaginable) house to grow up in.
