As to functionality - it's a tossup. The biggest difference is the
amount of patches it takes to keep the IE safe. We have over
1000 computers and we support firefox as the official browser.
Of course, there are those (in management) who want everything Microsoft, but they don't have to keep the computers
running bug free. Try using both for a month - there are a few
sites that are not friendly to Firefox - one is microsoft.com

I still vote for Firefox, and am curious about what problems you had...I've only had one (a permanent bug, print preview pause on multi-page table).

I detest IE but keep it because MS insists on it for MS maintenance.

You might also try, Opera and Safari-for-Windows. Both are fast.

The "world of web apps" though, is oriented, so far, toward IE and Firefox.

The next mainstream browser after IE and Firefox would be Opera.

Just for general use I would say Google
