if he is paired with someone like Huckabee they would win for sure.

Being from New York, Guiliani very well may take some moderate Democratic votes from those who don't want to vote for Hillary. But on the other hand, the more conservative Republicans have a lot of problems with some of his history. So they could balance each other out.

The problem for Guiliani is that the primary is mostly decided by conservative voters.
He might be able to squeeze out a general election win but he's on track to lose the first 5 primaries. He'll be playing catch-up from the start and with a new Rudy scandal being revealed every week it doesn't look like he'll make it there.

That's his best hope for winning... and the republicans best hope for holding onto the presidency. Republicans need to realize that having Guiliani in office is a much better choice that running Romney just to have him lose to Hillary or Barack. Personally, I think the republicans shouldn't focus so much on the presidency, rather the house and senate seats that will be needed in order to keep the democratic president in check.

That's not entirely fair, Guiliani can't be a liberal. He's in favor of fighting terrorists, and he's tough on crime. He's also not in favor of Government waisting tax payer money. It's true he does have some liberal social views, and no he's not a Conservative, but to call him liberal is hitting below the belt.

Rudy is a social Liberal (to a point) and a fiscal conservative, I view Rudy's stance on many issues close those of Ronald Reagan (a former Democrat) and JFK (a conservative Democrat). If he chooses a conservative VP (like a Mike Huckabee) he will appeal to both sides of the isle, and viewed as more middle America than a hard left Hillary/? ticket in 08.

If more Americans can be convinced that adultery is good politics Jullianni is a sure win.

He seems to be a mix of both lib and con, and that makes him seem more trustworthy than the Reagan wannabes we are used to seeing from the Republicans.
