Is my mother inlaws behaviour normal?

My wife's mother has done some things that seem questionable to me. Putting all together, I would like your opinion as to whether it all normal behaviour or not. Here are the facts.

1. My wife moved out of her sisters house (mom was/is living there now) to be with me.
2. The mom threatened to take wifes 12 year old away by calling CPS.. no valid reason.
2. The mom accidently called my wife and thought it the other daughter and proceeded to bad mouth and put down my wife (while she listened). ie "she is so stupid"
3. The sister and the mother both tag teamed my wife across various issues.
4. Things settled down, but the the mother inlaw has has said several times " I just watch and listen".
5. Mother in-law came to visit over Thanks giving. Every time I approached my wife when she was alone, the mother would come out of her room.
6. Now mom calls wife for 20/30 mins each day, twice a day. Both times while wifie is in car, leaving and coming back from work.

During her visit she also came into our mastbedroom to wake us up at 6am on Saturday.. "Just because" she expained

More detail: We love eachother very much, had our issues. Early on it was apparent that Mother and sister were treating wife like Cinderella's step family did her.

For whatever reason MIL really dislikes you and is trying to keep daughter away from you. Whether this is normal or not depends on whether she has good reason to feel this way.

While you give some interesting details that make it seem like your M-I-L is a little scheming and controlling, you don't give much to go on...like what was going on in their lives before you entered it? Do they feel as though you are not treating your wife right? Is there some sort of history of abuse?

No that really isnt normal, Your wife should be luck to get out of taht situation
