Are Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton too modern to be in the classic genre? I loved them in 'Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf?'. I think Liz is the best screen bitchyone ever - wish I could be as good as that in my bitchy mode.
Otherwise Humphrey Bogart and Laurence Olivier among the men, and Bette Davis , Marlene Dietrich and Ingrid Bergman among the girls.

I love Marlin Brando and Frank Sinatra In "Guys and Dolls." and Gene Kelly in "Brigadoom"and "on the Town"
And Judy Garland in "Meet Me in St. Louie" Love the Movie "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers" Barbara Streisand in "Funny Girl"and lots of other movies. My Grandfather and me always watched "The Searchers with John Wayne" God theres tons of people. Movies were so magical back then. Some were cheesy but they had great romance.

I love Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy...one of my favorites is "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner". They were awesome together! They also played in "Pat & Mike" and "Desk Set" together.
