We have a fake one. We did real ones for years then switched because of the mess, the expense every year and it was just easier. Also, now we have the tradition of putting up the tree after dinner on Thanksgiving. The whole family is already together and a real one would not last.

Actually i am not sure of the differences as in Singapore we only have fake trees. I am really looking forward to have a real Christmas tree and that can only happen if i live somewhere during Christmas.

Real. We have a child so cutting down the tree is a must.. we take pictures and have a fun day doing it. This was a tradition when I was a child also. When he is grown and out of the house, I will definitely consider a fake tree. They seem much easier and they are not a fire hazard. Best wishes and Happy Holidays!

I prefer real, but I ususally don't get the traditional cut pine. I like to get a smaller potted one I can plant somewhere later. This year I went with Rosemary, it smells soooo good, and it can be used later as an herb, in fact since it doesn't really get that big I am planning on re-planting it in a larger pot on a wheeled planter and using it again next year. Usually we do a fake on because I think it's dangerous to have a cut dead tree in the house.

Real, it just feels more like Christmas with a real tree.

My husband and I have one of those fake fiber optic trees. It is nice not to have to deal with lights and garland. We also have 2 young daughters and feel that is safer than a real tree.
