There are two types of intelligence. Crystallized, and fluid. Fluid intelligence is more along the lines of the ability to reason and problem solve. Crystallized intelligence is the ability to recall past events and incidences.

IQ is a vague concept. People can be intelligent in different ways. For example, someone can be creatively intelligent, and someone else can be kinesthetically intelligent. It is not an easy or accurate thing to measure.

IQ tests do have memory components... including the ability to recal information, and short term memory/processing. If you're asking for a correlation- you'd probably want to look at individuals who took a specific memory test and a specific IQ test and measure that.

yes. Many IQ tests require some level of basic knowledge to measure a person by... and as such memory is important in scoring well on a standardized test... now if the test were tailored to the individual.. memory could be factored down (not completely out) and be less influential on the score... but as it stands now it is highly correlated.
