Here's the deal - I am preparing the floor in my small bathroom for ceramic tile. We layed leveling compound and apparently didn't mix it correctly. It set up fine, but there are humps where it didn't level out as it should. What can I do now to fix the high spots? Thanks for any suggestions.

Get a crayon and circle the high spots, then chisel the bumps a little below the even surface and fill those holes with new compound.
If the high spots are too many, pour a veneer sheet of compound making sure everything is level.

There is a possibility you might be able to use a belt sander with a good course grit sandpaper. Do some looking at the different belts, there should be some type that will be a little better for cement like products versus just plan wood type. I'd guess a 60-80 grit. Assuming this was poured over wood sheathing it should bust out easy if you can't get the humps smoothed out.

First answer is correct. My experience is that most floor leveling compounds are not concrete based, but do contain some significant hardeners.
you can rent belt sanders to smooth it down, make sure the rental place shows you how to make sure the belt is tight and how to replace it and position the tension rod.
