I would like to draw attention to Granny's answer - That is so typical of a woman to say that....A woman knows a man can never have a baby right? So she can say its the most painful thing that could ever happen to anybody and we would never know if she was telling the truth....women can say that coz they know we'll never be able to find out! I think painful child labour is a myth...I reckon its a very pleasant and comfortable experience really!

I think that it is a different experience for everyone, and everyone has a different pain thresh-hold. I've had 2, and it is pain-full, but so was breaking several vertebrae and ribs!
The physical pain is the easy part, it is very soon forgotten, even for those which have difficulties.
It is completely overridden by the sheer emotion of becoming a parent, the love you feel instantly for your child, and the panic! The emotional pain of bringing that tiny person into the world, and caring for, and bringing up that child for the rest of its' life is the greater pain. Worrying constantly that what you are doing is best for your child, your tiny, innocent, little baby that is totally dependent upon you.
So, I think we are totally allowed to make a 'big deal', out of childbirth. If you have a child of your own some day, you will see. I know my husband feels the pain of being a father also.
Spare a thought also for those that have also sadly lost loved ones during child birth. It is a very dangerous time. When you understand all the possible complications that occur, then you can comment. (I say 'you' as a general term for everyone)

Overall, it does hurt. There is no pain on certain levels, quite like it in this world. Think about it next time.

My prayers are with all of you, as parents, expectant parents, for your children, unborn children, and those who we love and sadly have lost. XXX

Yes it is typical of a woman to pull the "Pain" issue out of the hat but today they have "Pain Relief" so they have a choice.

They also have a choice of having a baby and in the end it is their choice so why do they blame the man?

If child birth was that painful, then the human race would not be growing, it would be in decline.

Granted for some women it is painful but that's life.

What I find amusing is the replies from women and you can tell those that have given birth and those that haven't and the comparison to water melons.

If you talk to a midwife then you will soon see that most of the comments are made out of a lack of knowledge and like everything in life, the future is uncertain.

The hospital tried pressing charges but there was nothing the police could do under teh circumstances My mums not a violent person so i can imagine its a little harder than you think. Lol

I found it ok, i had my last baby at home with no pain releif... women get scared then panic and that makes labour last longer and the women get too tired to cope....
I do however think that if you get a bag of about 7lbs of peas, scrunch it up, stick it up your bum then push it out you might be somewhat close, all the time while someone is wrapping your lower abdomen in a huge plastic band and tightening it as far as you can go, then cutting the skin between your bum and whatever with a stanley blade then you should be fairly close...

If there was any justice in this world, you would be forced to poop a prize-winning marrow, and then you'd be sorry!!

Childbirth is different for all women, easier for some than others, but it is very painful. The pain has been described to the secondary stages of cancer, although of course the outcome is hopefully joyful.

You're just trying to provoke all us lovely mummas, aren't you?

I've never had one but I was a 10lb baby, and I was one of the smaller babies my mom had. My cousin who had 6 lber keeps telling me it's not that bad, but than again she had a 6 lber, not 11 and 12 lbers like my mom had. plus most women have epidurals. My mom never had any while my cousin did.
