It belongs to the 'Tertiary sector' of Indian economy.
There's a Minister at the Central level for this.
Also, in every State , there's one Minister specifically for Tourism.
Tourism is in Priority List of Industries in India.There are lot of privileges enjoyed by this Industry. The Govts, both at the Central level and at the State levels are trying to encourage Tourism in India.But, the sad story is "the growth rate in Tourism in India is slow,rather very slow compared to other Asian countries, like, China,Malayasia,Singapore,Thailand,Thailand,Vietnam,Gulf countries and ofcourse,Australia.
China's growth rate in Tourism is phenomenal.
