No, one of the first facts that most people learn about Huckabee is that he is a minister. Ministers go both ways on the death penalty, so I would not have been able to guess his position. WWJD? As someone who lived in an occupied territory where capital punishment was handed out for numerous offenses, and who was given the death penalty himself, Jesus would probably oppose it.

Not surprised at all that Huck is a minister. I worked at a radio station in the Bible Belt and our station sold advertisements to local businesses as all stations do. One such business was a store that specializes in alcoholic beverages. In selling the ad to the proprietor I asked if any of the town's preachers ever come in to buy anything. She asked "through the front door or the back door?" I said either and she told me that they normally used the back door. The biggest contributer amongst that crowd was one who bought time every Sunday on the station to rail about many things including the use of alcohol. I wonder if he was doing case studies or what? Whether Mr. Huckabee is that hypocritical, I am not sure but hypocrisy does seem to be running amok in the GOP these days more than in the Democratic side.

Jesus was a wise communist. He's shaking his head and wagging his finger up in heaven at conservative Christians. Too many Conservative Christians disowned the real Jesus years ago. Huckabee at least attempts to moderate a misguided Christian conservatism with some populism.
[ All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. ] The Holy Bible (NIV) Acts 4:32-35
The apostles of Jesus were communists. Modern Christians deny this over and over. I'm not sure if its because they forgot or if they are following Jesus' prophecy:
["You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written:
'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.' Peter declared, "Even if all fall away, I will not."
"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today-yes, tonight-before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown three times."] Mark 14:27, 29-31 (NIV)
