I moved here from boring San Antonio and I love it here. It's amazing how two cities (San Antonio and Austin) 55 miles apart can be SOOOOO different.

I love it here.

I know

I just moved here from Houston and Austin really is like no other city in Texas. It has great weather, beautiful lakes for canoing, amazing mountain views, and such fun, liberal people.

I love it...seriously...if I continue to live in Texas after finishing school...its the only city I would want to live in.

I don't live in Austin, but I wish I did. It's one of the coolest cities I've ever had the pleasure of visiting (this includes many places in Europe). I don't think most of the country realizes how cool and hip and progressive Austin is. It's like someone picked up San Francisco or Portland and dropped it in the middle of a red state. Amazing. I envy you for living there.

If I didn't have such a good job here (full time instructor at a university in Ohio) I'd relocate. Someday.

I have never lived there but visited a few times. I am not a fan of central Austin or anywhere close to UT. Too crowded. However, the west side of Austin is pretty sweet.

I lived in Round Rock (just north of you) for 8 years. We spent ALOT of time on 6th street in Austin in the clubs. Around Austin there are some really great lakes and rivers to play on, great parks and really, really good food. There are thins I miss about Texas, like crawfish, country nightclubs, drag boat racing, great gold courses (we played 10 months of the year) etc.....but the heat and humidity was too much for me. It's a great place to live and affordable at that!

Enjoy yourself!
