I like history.

Bavaria is a beautiful part of Germany. Very picturesque and the people are so warm and hospitable.
Munich and Frankfurt are cool cities to check out.
Germany is very popular with their 'schloss' -- castles. A very popular one is Walt Disney's castle (the one that all Disney places base theirs on).
Heidelburg is a great place to visit and the castle there as well.
Go into the Black Forest area too.
The countrysides of Germany is breathtaking. I don't know how long your trip is going to be, but when in Germany, do try to travel to other places such as Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy. You are not that far away at all. You can go into Austria and back in one day (Tirol/Innsbruck). There is so much history without even making a special trip everywhere you turn :-)

Look at this site below and see what sites and tours are offered in this itinerary. It'll give you an idea of these places. But believe me there is nothing like seeing those places in person.

Enjoy your trip. Hopefully you'll get to be in Germany for at least two weeks. You'll really be able to take a lot in and really enjoy your experience.

Berlin, Quedlinburg and Dresden.

Berlin - the Cold War and Third Reich stories will thrill you to the bone. And don't miss out Sansoucci in Potsdam, the castle the Prussian kings built to live "without worries". Most people do it as a day trip from Berlin.

Quedlinburg - the wooden framework houses will make you squeal with delight. The town is one of the best-preserved medieval and renaissance towns in Europe, having miraculously escaped major damage in World War II.

Dresden - awesome city, the art there will blow your mind.

hmm, well I think that Munich is one of the best towns to visit. I know this may sound odd but most people don't realize that most of Berlin is only about 60 years old because of the war. History is all over the place though! Enjoy your trip (also Auschwitz)
