Hillary is steadily dropping in the polls and it appears doubtful she will pull off a win as the first female presidential party nominee.

As the easiest candidate for Republicans to beat in the actual election (not the primary), have Republicans made a crucial mistake in smearing her too early?

Probably, the Republicans greatest fear is John Edwards for President. Southern, rich, white, and his poor wife is supporting him in his run. Edwards would easily beat the whole Republican field in straight match-ups.

They still have a good chance to win the election. Consider the fact that they won in 2000 and 2004 with George Bush as the nominee, and with two intelligent, articulate, and morally upright Democrats opposing him. Consider the recent polls where people are asked how would they vote in the various match ups between the candidates. The Democrats have only a VERY slight edge. I think this election will go down to the wire, Hillary or no Hillary, regardless of any tactical mistakes by the Republicans.

She would have been the easiest to beat, you have that part right. Unless of course Kucinich got the nomination, but that will never happen in any of our lifetimes. But the two most likely candidates if she doesn't get the nomination are Barack Hussein Obama, and John "Breck Girl" Edwards. Neither of which stand a snowballs chance in hell in a general election.

It's the Dems who have shot themselves in the foot,by putting all their worst candidates at the top of their list.

The repubs haven't even come close to bringing out the big guns on her yet. Any attacks on her by repubs have been baby steps.
All the big attacks she has gotten are from her fellow democrats, not republicans. She was running for cover during the debates and elsewhere due to her fellow democrats and the liberal media.
She doesn't need reuplicans to sink her, her own party will. She is an opportunistic parasite with no real record or any accomplishments. She has nothing but promises to offer the country and being female is not a reason to vote for someone. being qualified is and in eight years in the Whit House, she did nothing. She couldn't even catch her husband having sex right under their own roof. She has done nothing except rant and rave in the senate about how bad the repubs are and what she would do. Well, she has been in positions of power and has done nothing, so she really doesn't need repubs to smear her, she can do it all to herself!

Hillary will not stay down in the polls. She has cleverly not brought forward any issues yet, and is dropping for that reason.
She can bring real policy positions into the news at any time to get back her poll numbers. The issues just plain BELONG to Democrats this election.

Republican shills can smear anybody anytime - if they have enough time to prepare a twisted view of issues and a buzz phrase to make their view stick. Best to not give them a target too early.

Yes, I think they have. Republicans are so silly in their attempted spite. For months they were sarcastically pleading for the Democrats to nominate Hillary. Now it seems that Dems might take their advice and get a more charismatic candidate like Obama or Edwards. Oh well....they asked for it. LOL

No, because "community organizers" are somewhat in basic terms an inner city minority "problem". just about all of yankee do no longer comprehend what a community organizer does. Obama's campaign is the only in worry justifying that a community organizer has any fee. they could to boot guard substitute fringe of the line parking. this is a reminiscent of maximum individuals.

Karl Rove admitted that he was already working with the swift boat people in the hopes she would win the nomination and thenn they could start tearing her down

his biggest fear was a win by Obama since he is not nearly as easy to attack and has a much higher likability rating

Heck no. The right has so much more unbridaled hate to go around. It won't matter who the Democrats nominate the GOP will lavish the hate upon them. The Republicans will continue the Rove strategy of not talking issues but resort to childish name calling and personal attacks.

No Hillary Clinton would be a lot harder to defeat than Barack Obama, but because conservatives are telling the truth about Hillary she will probably not be the nominee.
