I was given a computer and i dont know much about them I was told that this is the problem The computer has no more memory becuse the last owner tried to install Windows XP I have been told that i need Windows 98 the computer starts up and runs its thust lines over photos and keeps telling me there is no aval. Memory Please any help would be appreciated Thank you so much For your time I just cant afford to call Geek Sqad to fix . You will be making my kids holiday if we can get this Free Dell Computer working . Also if you need an information ask ill post :-)

Ok thnak you so far you have all been a lot of help I need to add A few thing Frist the computer is not online (im at the libary on there computer ) and the only way to discribe the funky displays is the look like plaid purple pink and green over them

Sounds like it really need a complete wipe and reinstall.
Hope you got all the driver CDs and rthe Win98 CD and Key with it.,

When you say Memory are you talking about free hard drive space???? THat is what the problem you are describing sounds like. Does the computer have a restore disk? That would enable you to format the hard drive and start at the original starting point of the system. I'd never waste your money with the geek squad.
To run xp min you should have is 512 megs of memory(RAM) and at least a 20 gig hard drive(you don't need that much space available, just available for future programs.
