I have to do a debate on abortion for my final in my public speaking course. It has to be 10 minutes long. I am for abortion, he is against. Can someone give me some really useful and valid websites that have some pro-choice information. I have to have 10 valid sources. This woman is on something. All information I appreciate. I was thinking of using some real-life scenarios like explaining how an unwanted child(maybe put in an orphanage) is affected and how he carries it through his childhood, not being able to connect. Or maybe being raised by a mother that really didn't want him in the first place but had to raise him and how it affects the child as well as the mental affects on the woman. That it is more like taking two steps forward and one step back. Yes, the human race is surviving(very much surviving) but at what costs socially? Is this making the world a better place? Ideas, ideas, ideas and sources are welcome. Thank you. Whatever opinion you hold is helpful.

Also I was thinking about touching on why does the Pro-life battle with making sure the baby is born stops once the baby is born. Why isn't there help given to these women who knew they couldn't raise a baby? In the end are all these people doing the best for the child, especially when they hold zero interest after the baby is born? What do you think?

Every place that I know that helps women not have an abortion also helps afterwards and also referrals.

There is a place in Kansas City called the lighthouse. I suggest you see if they have a website.

I would recommend using this site. Yes, there are going to be lots of rants but you will find little gems of wisdom sprinkled in. Go thru the questions and read all of the answers. Think about them.

If the answer supports your view then does it have anything that you can use, especially if it is an interesting point. If the answer does not support your view then how would you refute it. You probably won't be able to use this site as a source, but doing this will sharpen your skills.

Your stance in the debate is a hard one. Your opponent will probably try to use the emotional tactic to win. However, if you prepare and get yourself ready then you might have a chance. Your opponent may think that he has it in the bag.

I would also recommend going to the library and finding articles in magazines. Use those as sources. Cite them in the debate where applicable. It does make your opponent look unprepared if you can cite your sources from memory and he cannot.

Keep your cool and never let your emotion take over. That will help you a lot in the debate.
