now a days perhaps; however, are you familiar with the processes that take place in a slaughter house. if you are not a vegetarian/vegan then you probably have no right to criticize. How about the sport of hunting? killing as many birds or deer as you can... or how about fishing... those are rather cruel if you look at them in the same way you see bull fighting... however, bull fighting is seen as a tradition, and perhaps you're just a little close-minded about this... try to be more open-minded and consider the flaws of your own traditions before judging others'. I'm sure the Spanish or even Mexicans wouldn't just disappear a tradition that old or important because some people find it barbaric.
Avoid criticizing before looking at all sides of an issue; the Spanish conquistadors saw the Aztec sacrificial rituals as barbaric and they saw themselves as the saviors of the indians; however, they never saw their own practices, such as witch hunting and burning women at the stake for such acusations, as barbaric. Don't make the same mistakes because you're born in a different culture; and in the future just think a little more critically.

Perhaps you've forgotten about all the sports the Romans came up with, that used humans as the victims.

Bull fighting is cruel in some ways, but it also relies on the instincts of the bull. The bull chooses to charge. Sure it is lured into it, but I think we would say a bull is more intelligent than a fish, and fishes choose not to always take the bait.

I think probably the cruelest would have been the feeding of humans to lions and the arenas that entertained the watchers with humans fighting each other to the death for sport. But I do agree that bull fighting just like chicken fighting and dog fighting is cruel. It tends to show that we still have a sense of barbarianism left in us.

I never did get the appeal of bullfighting. It's not a fair fight. How about if you blindfold the matador, and get everyone else out of the ring?
On the rare occasion when a matador gets gored, I find myself cheering for the bull.

I say "American Idol" is the cruelest sport. It certainly hurts me to watch it.

uh...the Romans fed people to lions for sport.

At least no part of the bull goes to waste after it dies - they use the meat, hide, etc.
