when one desires, that one trains own thoughts to bring pleasure upon fulfillment of the desire or sadness upon unfulfillment.

among all the many desires, those not fulfilled are well more often than those fulfilled. why then do people doom themselves to sadness? why not the people train their thoughts happiness without option for sadness, without desire, for a happy person can do things better and help those around?

Glenn Yu: thank you. do you have the power to stop your desire completely?

Premaholic: thank you. clearer explanation brings more ground for understanding.

Dart: thank you. what determines the choice if not what thoughts are trained? should no desires be fulfilled, what will grow brighter? can color of emptiness fade in time?

Mr. Diamond007: thank you. indeed blessed those who comprehend this responsibility.

ulter of anger: thank you. if the joy of fulfilled desire and happiness are not one matter, one sure can differentiate one from another, for happiness would not rely on desire fulfillment. i am glad to bring a measure of happiness to you. :)

I heard someone say...when i get sad, or lonely, or somethings goes wrong.."I eat" or "I drink" now...(along the same lines) why couldn't it be something else? say like...I go for a run..or call up a friend..or play a game? Desires..are taught... and "passed on" they just don't "happen"differant ones are not "natural" they are not "instinctive" so, they can be altered or changed..and, it's up to us to recognize the ones that are hurting us and take the initiative to change them through being responsible for our own actions ..not blaming others for our own "short comings" "Peace!"

Desire to me is a direction of thought. You need desire otherwise you will just be a breathing entity that takes up space. With desire, you will make a choice and go in a direction, with many other choices to support your direction. And of course the effects of those choices will influence the direction of thought as you experience and process the effects.

This process is call living Life.

Now your perspective of a happy person doing better things and helping those around him is from your desire and your experiences. From my experience of life, sad people can bring me better things because I can then see how blessed I am. I will also like to say that I like sadness too. When something/someone has been taken away from me, I like to feel sad. It is a direction I have taken and liked the effects. I release a lot of emotion as I focus on the thing/person that is making me sad, and then when I am full of that experience, I begin to go in another direction.

Sadness experiences also makes the happiness all the more brighter and that may be why I choose to go in that direction. Being happy all the time makes the effects the same and it becomes boring.

I also have fulfilled many desires just to find more desires waiting. I guess in my life experiences, I like to keep going in directions, even when I get there! It is all about choices that you want to experience in this life time.
