Pat Robertson understands that a third party ultra-conservative candidate would guarantee a Democratic victory in the general election. It would split the Republican vote. To counter this, and alay the fears of Robertsons base, he deceided to support the strongest national candidate vs the Dem field of candidates.

As I understand it, Robertson feels that the War on Terror is the number one issue facing the next candidate. He feels that Giuliani is the strongest candidate on that issue. Purely from that perspective, it makes perfect sense. Theocratic issues will fly out the window if terrorism escalates to this country.

Pat Robertson, like all the other politically involved Moral Majority leaders, is a political weathervane. He will turn whichever way the winds of Politics is blowing. In effect, he has sold his soul to the "devil" of power and influence, as have all the other politically active evangelical leaders. I think that the days of the Evangelical movement as a political force has already reached its pinnacle and is on the decline in influence and is quickly becoming irrelevant on the Poitical scene.

Robertson worships the dollar. True Christians are in monasteries, not on TV.

Blackmail. He's got something on Robertson that would destroy him as a Christian showman, Rudy said
"Pat if you don't support me I'll tell the world your secrets."
Pat said "Ok, you've got my endorsement!"

Only because he thinks he can win. There goes Robertson's abortion and gay rights fight right out the window. Sort of makes him look like a hypocrite.
