What if we are just a dream, a figment of an imagination. My teacher took philosophy class. He can not even prove that we exist. We believe we exist. It is called faith. So answer this question that a 15 year old kid posted.

You don't have to believe that you're real, you just feel it. Fine go tell yourself you're not real...but you will be denying reality by that and you know it.
The very proof that you are real is your life experience, an imagination cannot accumulate so much knowledge and memories and emotions inside you, this illness you have acquired since childhood and all the biological changes that happened to you. The cause-and-effect phenomenon is the ultimate proof that you exist for real. In cartoons, a character jumping from a 50-feet cliff would still be able to run...can you do that??? The cause and effect, and permanent laws that we follow - natural laws like laws of physics and chemistry, human laws like the constitution, are concrete proof of the reality of your existence. The complexity of life is always defied in dreams and imagination, but in reality every single being is subjected to it. So if you have ever experienced those phenomena, then you are real.

I cannot prove to you that I exist by myself. No matter what I do, I cannot. That requires your approval. I can offer reasoning, I can offer "tangible" evidence. I can offer you proof of what I think constitutes validation of me. Ultimately, you have a choice. You can reject all notions of my proof if you so choose. Your acceptance of what is offered will be the only thing that allows something to be proved to you.
I will give you an example:
There has been evidence presented that suggests we have uncovered dinosaur fossils that are 140 million years old. There are people who believe this wholeheartedly while others completely reject the notion.
What makes the difference? Each of us creates our own reality. Our interpretation of a set of information based on our own criteria.
Perhaps I could "prove" my existence to you if I understood "your" criteria for proof of my existence. So, we would have to establish some common "language" first. Just as scientists have agreed upon the Scientific Method. But, then, I would be playing into your understanding of what constitutes whether or not I am real. But, just because you then perceive me as real based on that criteria, does it make it so?
It is entirely possible that what I have said makes absolutely no sense. It is entirely possible that someone could "prove" me wrong. ;) But according to the scientific method... that is essential. :)~
This was a fun question to contemplate. Thanks.

What is important is that I believe I am, and that's enough to convince me.
If others don't share my way of thinking it is because they are different to me and not of my mind.
Therefore if other exist externally to me, I must exist externally to them.
So if it's not my dream, then it's someone else's, hence we must concluded that at least somebody exists and if they exist then why not I.
Anyway is this really what you call philosophy, you know the old If a tree... thing.
Because if it is then in Italian we say "una sega mentale"
Not like looking into what exactly is natural law and how it is of importance in today's world in that it may conflict with codes of legislative law,
For example
Now please form large groups and go off to debate this,
Sorry it's my sick mind I could resit it!

I had a friend once that told me I didn't exist, or prove it otherwise. Ever since he got married and had kids, funny how he focuses his mind and time on real things now. So I tell him, I exist because I can see that it is so. That's the only proof I need.

easy.
Just fart, gas is produced in the human intestines by bacteria breaking down the foods we eat. Therfore if you fart and can smell it you exist, or at least the bacteria that live inside you exist,
If you were not here there would be no bacteria, no food in the intestines, hence NO gas and no smell.
So prove to the world that you do exist and just fart. Prove it to all the lesser people so they know "I fart, I smell, I exist."

I am real...
I know this because if I wasn't real then I wouldn't have spent the last 3 hours sitting with my little boy in an emergency room, only to take him home and have him vomit all over the car.
My proof - I clean vomit therefore I am

I can only prove "my" existence to you, by way of your own existence. Reality is "What IS" and what I AM is real. It is what I "think" I AM that is always in question!

I cannot prove it to you, neither can you tell me what 'real' or 'existence' means. You might have an opinion on it, but others have their opinions. So you expect me to prove something that nobody can truly describe.
