Myself and three other friends all named our daughters Cali, Kaly, Kali, and Kally. (Can you tell we mothers are all California girls?) My daughter's full name is Kalyssa but I named her that in compromise with her father so I could call her Kaly. What should I do?

It does not sound as if the 4 of you are really that close if you all named your babies the same name without knowing it. When I was pregnant, "what to name the baby?" was a pretty hot topic of conversation when I either met up with my friends or talked with them. All my close friends knew the names we had picked out and I knew the baby names my friends had chosen as well. Didn't you go to each others baby showers? I just can't imagine all 4 of you are close so it seems unlikely you'll all be together at one time. Even if you all were, it won't be like you'll mix your kids up. I don't see any real problem with this situation. Call your daughter by her full name if it seems to cause confusion when you are together, but I don't think you'll need to. You may simply need to add a bit more clarification if talking to someone about another Kali by saying something like "Jen's daughter Kali got her first tooth." I'd just chalk it up to the "great minds think alike" theory when you are together and get a good chuckle out of it,

Kalyssa is a beautiful name. Dont change it. I agree with Amarie, just call her Kalyssa or Lyssa, somethin different from the names ur friends chose for their kids. Good Luck!

Kalyssa is so pretty. I would call her that. But if you are stuck on using a nickname, keep it the way it is. Don't change for other people.

Call her by her name. Not like she'll never run into another girl with that name on her life. And how do you and your friends name your kids the same thing without knowing? I knew what my friends were naming their kids long before delivery day...these aren't very close friends, are they?

if the four of you were all friends how can you NOT know what you are naming your children?? if you aren't close enough for that, then I doubt there are going to be many instances when all four Kalis are together!

What do you mean what should you do. Call your daughter by the same name you always have. Who cares, what others name their kids.

Um continue to call her by her name, why should you call her something different just because others named their daughter that?
That was the first gift you ever gave her, do not take it away.
Call he by her full name-it is beautiful.
