I went in last week and had a fibronectin test that came back negative but last night I had them from about 7 to 1 in the morning. It is hard to time them because they are not extremely painful, just very tight and I don't always notice right away. They seem to last a lot longer than they should...like over a minute. I have had SOOO much pressure from the baby very low for about a month now so I know he is carrying low. I just have this incredibly strong feeling I am going to be early. Anyone experience this? Oh I didn't call the doctor because I have an appointment scheduled this morning anyways. Thanks so much in advance.

I don't know if it matters or not but he was extremely active yesterday ALL day. He is usually only active after I get home and lay down...around 8

Just to add to answer someone's question. They only did a sonogram at 7 weeks and then 21 and he was measuring fine. Now they just use the tape measure...is that as accurate? Should I request a scan?

With my first child I had no contractions until the day i had him and my labor was 18 1/2 hrs long. A complete natural birth. My second and third child I started getting contractions at 6 months off and on. They too were carried full term and a complete natural birth but labor for one was only 3 3/4 hrs and the other was 8 hrs. These contractions are just preparing you for labor and getting your body ready. Also you might want to try to poop. Really sometimes that stops the contractions on the spot. By the way CONGRATS

I started having contractions around 31 or 32 weeks.. I have been carrying low also. My contractions sound like yours, they aren't extremely painful most times but sometimes they are. Mine also seem to last a while, but I dont time them either. I even would wake up at all hours feeling them, but they have not ever been consistent. I am now 37 weeks. At 34 weeks they did an internal and I was 2cm and 50% effaced. The dr told me that when I was feeling those contractions they were starting to soften me and prepare me for labor. My pressure has been HORRIBLE for weeks now and I can literally see him move in the top part of my vagina, but as of 36 weeks and 6 days I am only 3 to 4 cm dilated and 75% effaced with no steady contractions. The come daily and even hourly but never close together. I have had some really painful ones, but then it stops and im all better. The worse is my pressure. However they say it is normal and I would hope I would know if I was in true labor. The best thing would be to ask your dr because 32 weeks is way to early to have your baby, though Im sure like me if someone said baby would be perfectly fine you would be all for it. Try to stay off your feet and rest and ask the dr to be sure, but so you know it sounds as if we have had a bit of the same thing going on..
This is my third baby but for some reason I think my body thinks its my first. My last pregnancy was 11 years ago when I was nineteen. I have already dropped and everything. Good luck and update us after the appointment today.

Usually I would say lay on your left side, drink an excess of fluid and call your Dr. for further instructions. Ususally real contractions last 30seconds or less and what your having is braxton hicks by the sounds of it. However, if this is your first or you have been experiencing other problems go now to be safe. Dehydration causes your uterus to contract so regardless, start drinking water to help prevent contractions due to dyhdration.

I am 21 and 23 weeks preg. with twin girls. I experience 'contractions' often when I am not drinking water. I find if I drink lots I have the odd one if I am over stressed or working to hard.

If you do deliver early know that you are at good spot in your pregnancy to do so. If they are contrations and you are in early labour the hospital will start you on drugs to stop the labour if possible and give you steroids to get the baby's lungs a bit more matured before birth.

Good luck

Whatever you decide to, grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down the time of each "contraction". With braxtons you tend to "feel" when one is coming as they are quite long and strong, with the real thing you find you can "time" it. Mine began at 6mins apart at 35 weeks, but my waters had broken too, so I knew they were different.

When was your last scan and how big was your baby? Have there been any mention of changing your due date during the pregnancy (my specialist changed my 2nd pregnancy date twice, and brought it forward the second time!) Do go and get checked out, that's what the professionals are there for! All the very best.

I really think you need to go to ER. My sis had that happen. She ended up delivering just before 32 weeks. Get in ASAP. It might be a false alarm but you don't want to take any chances.

EDIT: Go to the doctor now, I think they would understand. If your appointment is late morning it is too late in the day. Go now. Don't wait. If it is something it may happen fast. Go up to the check in desk there and tell them what is happening. Your doc will probably check you out right away because I would definitely consider this an emergency. You may call ahead too though to be sure what I say is right. I'm not a doc but my sis's baby died from SIDS and I'm pretty sure because she was born premature her brain wasn't given adequate time to develop so this makes me nervous for you. Like I said it could be nothing but if you think something is wrong it is better to be safe than sorry. There is a 90% survival rate at your baby's current gestation if they were to be born.

your doctor is not always right about your due date! you might be further along than you think ! When i was pregnant, i had very bad contractions and i thought i was in labor and i went to the doctor i was 2 cm, and i was just having pre labor cramps. you can have them so bad that you think you are in labor! Its a great thing that you have a doctor appt this morning ! you need to go and get checked out! Being 31 weeks, even if the baby came, their is enough care for your baby, to help him survive! I hope everything works out!
