I've never seen a fat soccer player, so my guess is - soccer players.

Fitter is undoubtedly a soccer player. For those who think it is basketball are quite naive. SOccer recruits at the age of 10 or maybe even younger, and the player MUST maintain his ability to play until professional (maybe 7 years) till at least 17 years old. Many basketball players don't even start until mid-teens. There is no way Kobe can run 240 yards more efficently that any top wing-backs in any premier leagues. Soccer players do not have time to rest besides halftime of pre-overtime sessions. Their endurance is the highest of any sport. Just look at Steve Nash going from a soccer player to basketball player and see where it has brought him

both require a lot of endurance. but the thing is in soccer the games are longer (90 min in soccer, 60 in basketball). Soccer there are no timeouts and the fact that you can lose the ball on any possession forces you to run more and play defense the entire game. one person previously stated he has seen a fat soccer player, where? at a random sunday league? You would never see an over weight player in the professional ranks, where as guys like Oliver Miller, Pig Miller, Shaq etc. have played several years in the NBA. All of which are huge. I know in basketball you sometimes have to be big but do you think Kobe could out run Cristiano Ronaldo?

Depends on your definition of fitter. A soccer player would probably be better at distance running and endurance for longer periods of time. Basketball players have much more upper body strength and explosive power. More like sprinters than marathon runners.
Overall, I'd probably say basketball players are the fittest.

It's called football. They are more fit because they are required to run around a larger area for a longer time than basketball players.

ALL YOU PEOPLE SAYING SOCCER:
SO ARE THE KENYAN MARATHON RUNNERS MORE FIT THAN PRO BASKETBALL PLAYERS TOO?
THE ABILITY TO RUN LONG DISTANCES IS NOT THE DEFINITION OF FIT.
FIT IS A COMBINATION OF STRENGTH, SPEED, AGILITY, ENDURANCE AND ALL THAT OTHER STUFF. LOL
