The twins must have more pitching than batting in the minors.
Young has 5 cheap years left and the Rays were loaded in the OF. Garza, although promising in the minors, hasn't had a gang busters major league career so far and after one year in the majors, Young had more than an average year (93 RBIs)
It gives the rays more pitching and the the twins more hitting.
It's obvious that this signals that pitching is what is going to be traded for when Santana moves. (Chamberlain and Kennedy or Chamberlain and Hughes)

I like Delmon Young. I wish the Indians would trade for a hitter like Young but the price is too high (ie: young pitching). Teams probably want Adam Miller or something so as an Indians fan I just sit and watch these other teams make moves like this. Young did not have any tantrums...etc. while on the Rays last year. The problem player was Elijah Dukes who was promoted along with him and wound up being inactivated by the Rays because he could not stay out of trouble. I say each team got what they wanted: Twins a hitter and the Rays a pitcher. Garza could flame out but everyone seems to think Young is the real deal.

I live in MN, and have been absolutely sick to death with Carl Pohlad and the entire Twins front office. I will say this. They got this one right. It's about time. Usually, the Twins are on the losing end of making trades or losing free agents. I will commend Billy Smith (new GM) that he did a great job with this. I think, if they are able to play their cards right (which they never have....fingers crossed) they could make a move with Santana that could put a good, young, talented team on the field in 2008.

this trade is beneficial for both teams. Young has the potential to be great and Garza could be an ace. Both are very young kids who have plenty of time to develop. Twins are stockpiled with pitching in the minors and they need players who can produce offensively now.

Well i am not a Twins fan bit giving up such a promising pitching prospect for young may turn out to be a bad idea . Of course if he leaves his past in the past and become a better person and play he could be good for the twins but i doubt it

not a Twins fan but the trade looked good to me, Brendan Harris is better all around than Bartlett, Young has the potential to be a better hitter than Hunter, and you need a hitter or two, cause frankly you don't have any.
