HELL NO.

Illinois's offense is like West Virginia's.....in slow motion. West Virginia also has one of the top 10 defenses in the country.

Whats the best defense OSU played this year? The 20th Ranked Illinois defense thats who.

OSU is a good team. The only problem is that a 'good' team in Div-1 is NOT good enough to be a championship team. Ohio State's signature win this year was against a 3-loss Michigan team. They have no proven themselves to be a championship caliber team and I really hope they don't make it.

To answer your question, with an amazing game plan and their players playing their best OSU can definitely take on WVU. They are strong and almost as fast. Do I think they'll win? I'd bet no, I think 7/10 times WVU would beat Ohio State.

i am a WVU fan and i don't think Ohio State can handle Mountaineers speed. But WVU does not have a good secondary. If Ohio State would play Wvu in the National Championship, i think it would be a really good game.

Lets GOOOOOO Mountaineers!!!

OSU lost last year because they were unprepared after a 50 something day layoff. They had plenty of talent and earned the right to get to the NC game. I really doubt they would show up that poorly prepared 2 years in a row.

Why does everybody remember last years game but not the 4 BCS games they won? They have a 4-1 record all time in BCS bowls including a National Championship when they beat Miami in a game they were predicted to get blown out in.

South Florida did and you see the type of season they had afterwards. I don't think anyone is as dangerous as West Virginia right now but Ohio State would be a different match up for WVU and they hit a lot harder than UConn and Louisville. So anything could happen. Remember this Ohio State team is a lot different than last years team and West Virginia is not Florida from last year. So last year has nothing to do with it.

Um...I do remember last year. I also KNOW that they have a different defense than last year, so that's a moot point. A lot can change in a year and I think you should consider the way they have been playing THIS year.

I think they could definitely slow WV...maybe not stop them. The great thing is that on the other side of the ball OSU has Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline - two players who are arguably as good as Anthony Gonzales and Ted Ginn Jr. were last year. And then who can forget about Chris Wells? I think WV would have THEIR hands full trying to stop OSU.

to me i find it laughable that we even have this as a possibility for the national championship! starters, who has west virginia played this year? sure, they have just one loss, but that came against the highest rated team they played all year, south florida who was number 18 at the time! i hope this turns out to be the lowest rated championship game ever. that way maybe the almighty school presidents will be forced by corporate sponsers to finally allow for a true championship series like the fans have been crying for all these years! what other sport has such a long time off between the end of the last game and the champion is determined?
but to get back to the question, i think osu would have plenty of time to prepare for west virginia. they will have at least 4 weeks won't they? on the otherside though, how will west virginia handle the power game of osu? i think osu will win.

yes, ohio state will be able to handle that offense effectively. WV will definitely score some points but ohio state offense will rack up more points on WV's D. No doubt about it. As for last years game, if you watched them, they completely went away from thier game plan and it messed them up bad. OSU is not a bad team, and i think they are deserving if they get there

Yes, and they'll be able to handle all three of Pat White's fumbles, and one from Slaton. The question is: Can anyone on WVU tackle Beanie Wells? This is all assuming that both teams make it, which is a pretty big assumption.

I'd like to see OSU get there. I'd be disinterested in a WVU/Mizz game but with OSU there I'd have someone to root against. I agree that, like last year, OSU would be overmatched and shown to be undeserving of the NC game.
