Help with webcam?

I recently bought a webcam for my Acer laptop running on windows vista.Installed the driver and got confirmation driver installed successfully BUT the laptop doesn't recognise the webcam when plugged in. The webcam does say it works for windows xp and vista! Please help

if you are runnung norton antivirus, check that the firewall is allowing you to access messenger fully, if not sure email your antivirus provider
