well during pregnancy you shouldn't gain much more than 20 lbs (25-40lbs) so she definitely wouldn't gain more than 2-4 lbs the first month. It sounds like she just needs to start a healthier diet and some exercise. The pains you are having are most likely menstral pains. If you think you are pregnant then just wait a good week or two after your MISSED period and then take a home pregnancy test.

Take the test. Here is what you are to do TODAY.
a) go to the store, but an EPT, pee on the stick, wait five minutes, get an answer. Repeat the last few steps with a second test just to be sure.
b) REGARDLESS of the result, positive OR negative, you call a doctor to discuss 1) the baby or 2) the weight gain.
You need professional advice now--not Yahoo answers.
So go, get off the computer and to the store.

Being pregnant does not mean gaining 20 lbs in the first month. She has something way wrong... tell her to see a doctor. I can't even imagine a rapid gain like that.
The best way to know if you are prenant is to have a test done. I would not be taking any notice of pains or swelling as we normally get that with T.O.M. anyway.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Lisa

20 lbs one month good lord she needs to slow down the eating. not a pregnancy sign
neither is yours but you need a doctor well you both do
your friend has an eating problem and you may have appendicitis see your doctor now before it gets worse and ruptures
neither is pregnant

gaining 20 pounds? it would be too early in the pregnancy to call that a symptom
are either of you late for your period? now that would be a viable symptom

She may be. If she kept her pants on, she wouldn't have anything to worry about, would she?
