I had the same problem with my daughter when she was 4-5 months old and I wanted to get a part time job. She absolutely refused to take anything but my breast. We tried EVERYTHING. Seriously nothing worked. I ended up not getting a part time job and just nursed her until she was 9 months old and started to wean herself. She just might not be ready yet. I'm actually glad now that I didn't stop nursing her then. Also you may think you supply is low but she will take what she needs while nursing, as far as pumping, you do get less milk so you might just want to pump more often like right after you nurse, you'll get a little bit each time and it will add up. Hope that helps. (maybe even try getting up in the middle of the night to pump)

My daughter liked Carnation Good Start, when I was weening her from the breast. I tried others but one gave her a rash and she didn't like the others. Also, I used the platex nurser bottles with the flat top nipple. Also, try having your spouse or someone else feed the bottle to the baby.

Also, check out this site for weening info: http://www.llli.org/FAQ/weanhowto.html

Good Luck!

Breast pumps decrease production if thats all your using. You have to latch baby on all the time and let her nurse to really up production. Babies empty the breast, pumps just dont.

Formula tastes aweful, breastmilk is very sweet. Its not easy to coax a formerly only breastfed baby onto formula, and it can be even harder to get them to use a bottle.

I couldnt do it. I do see why its worth it, unless you're a working mom and cant be home to nurse.

I can't really help you with getting your daughter onto formula, but I just want to point out to you that, if the only reason you're wanting to wean her is due to suspected supply problems, then please seek professional advice from a lactation consultant first.

It's very rare to have a true supply problem, and if you do, it's usually easily rectified. Breastfeeding is just such a better option than formula if you're able to do so - it's definitely worth checking out your options.

I breastfeed 99% of the time and give my son Nestle Good Start with comfort proteins when I can't express enough for daycare. He seems to have adjusted to it well.
