Heather paid $12 and Jen paid $8
Heather paid 3/5
Jen paid 2/5

8 divided by 2 =4 times 5=20 and 20 divided by Heathers portion which is 3=12

OK 8$ = 2/5 of the bill.
1/5 of the bill=4$
5/5 of the bill =4$ x5 = 20$.
Jen paid 8$, so Heather paid 12$

Hope this helps..

heather has enough to cover 2/5 of the bill.

8=2/5x

$8 is 2/5 of $20
jen paid $12, 3/5 of $20
