I'm in the process of looking for a new stereo for my Punto and I need to know if it is a Single DIN or a Double DIN. How do I go about finding this out? I know it tends to be Japanese cars that are Double DIN but I just need to make sure.

Thank you.

The MkI and II Punto have single DIN slots (about 50mm high)
Double DIN is twice the height (about 100mm high).

A MkII Punto (1999-2006) may require an additional face plate, due to the original factory-fit stereo being shaped to blend in to the shape of the console.

It's a standard fit DIN slot. If it's the 2000-2006 model Punto, it'll need an adaptor plate, about £10 from a car audio shop, and depending on the brand of stereo you buy, it may need a wiring adaptor as well, about £10-£20.

All punto's are din, mk1 does not need any adaptor plates, mk2&3 require a facia panel, mk4 also requires facia but different to mk2/3

NOTE:

Punto wiring has no switched battery feed so without proper audio installations there is a chance that your radio will remain on at all times.

Mk1 requires an additional wire, Mk2/3 & 4 use can interfaces.

(Still want to tackle it??)
